Purpose & Calling

Is your job your identity? (Hint: No).

In a fast-paced city like Atlanta, it’s easy to fall into the trap of letting your career define you. We wear our busyness like a badge of honor, tying our value directly to our job titles, salaries, and corporate achievements.

You Are Not Your Job

But what happens when the job changes, the project fails, or the season transitions? If your identity is in your work, your worth goes up and down with your performance.

The Gospel offers a radical alternative: you are already fully known, valued, and loved by God. Your calling isn’t just about what you do for a living; it’s about who you belong to. Your job is a platform to display God’s character, but it is not your identity.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” — Colossians 3:23

When we gather, we step away from the pressure of performance. We remind each other that our value was settled at the cross, allowing us to work from acceptance, not for it.

Practical Steps for Aligning Your Calling

  • Set working boundaries. Protect your Sabbath rest and community time.
  • Reframe your daily tasks. See your workplace as a mission field for kindness and excellence.
  • Invest in relationships. Your impact is measured by how you love people, not just your output.

Let’s find calling and clarity together, shifting our perspective from temporary success to eternal significance.
